Outdoor Suggestions:

Fly Fishing:  The Colorado and Fraser Rivers have been fishing fantastic with fish attacking terrestrials and great hatches occurring daily.  Get out as the sun comes up to avoid the crowds and up your chances for success.  If none of this makes sense, visit Winter Park Fly Fisher for a local guided trip and mention you’re staying with us to get 10% off your trip.

White Water Rafting:  Local river guides, MAD adventures, are running trips down the upper Colorado for a family fun river adventure.  For a more exciting thrill ride, ask about rafting Clear Creek which is still running at fun flows, not normal for this time of year!  Click here for more info and mention you’re staying with us for 10% off your next trip!

Mountain Biking: The recent rains have kept the dust down and the trails in great shape for the most part.

Local Tip: Be aware that some parts of trails have been washed out from recent heavy rains creating deep ruts down the middle.  Just ride with caution and enjoy.

Local Suggestion:  Plan a loop or three in the Idlewild zone that provides great riding for all ages and ability levels. Downhill Mtn Bike

Hiking:  Breathtaking views and trails line the mountains all around and above Winter Park.  Local Tip:  Avoid being caught above treeline during a lightning storm.  If you plan on hiking in the high country check the local forecast before you go.  If you decide to go, go early.  Even on days when there is a low chance of storms we often see storms develop quickly in the afternoon this time of year.

Be sure to check out all of our activities deals with local business partners in the valley allowing you to play your hardest and then of course, rest easy.
