Winter Park Colorado

1-Day Ski Itinerary at Winter Park

Our guests are always asking us, “If you only had ONE day to ski Winter Park, where would you go?”

There are so many fun runs to ski in Winter Park, it’s hard to choose! Here is a sample itinerary for the intermediate-advanced skiers in your group:

8:40am: Park at the Vintage Parking and ride the Cabriolet into The Village

9:00am: Hop in line, and be one of the first people on the Gondola

9:20am: At the top of the Gondola, stay straight and ski to the left, hugging the run towards Jabberwocky

9:30am: Go down the Jabberwocky run, and get first tracks on the freshly groomed “corduroy”

9:45am: At the bottom of the run, you will see two lifts, take the larger “Olympia Express” lift which will take you to the Mary Jane ski area

10:00am: Ski straight off the lift down towards the Mary Jane Trail

10:15am: At the base of Mary Jane, get on Super Gauge (big 6 pack lift) to the top of Mary Jane. Exit left/straight off the lift and take any run to the bottom of the Sunnyside and Panoramic Express area

10:30am: If the winds are mild, go up Panoramic Express. Exit left, and ski down hugging the left hand side of the run. Here, you can choose to jump in the trees, or stay to the left for fast runs back to Panoramic & Sunnyside.

11:00am: Head back up Panoramic Express, but this time, exit right. At the top, take a deep breath, and enjoy the gorgeous views! Sitting at 12,060 ft in elevation, this point is almost 2 1/2 miles above sea level! Wow!

11:15am: Ski down along the cornice edge (I like to hold my arms out & sing a tune) and head over to Vasquez.

11:30am: Ski to the bottom, and jump on Eagle Wind lift. From the top, you can head towards Lunch Rock Lodge

11:45am: Take an early lunch, and beat the crowds! Enjoy a burger outside and listen to some music with the locals. Sit on lounge chairs and take in the views! Ahhhh… now this is the life!!

12:45pm: After lunch, take the Sleeper run: a tougher blue/black, but usually empty of crowds in the early afternoon – lap this!

1:30pm: Go down the top of Sleeper and cut across an easy path into the trees to the top of Arrowhead run – Some easier moguls & bumps make you feel like a pro! Continue on to Arrowhead, one of the Owner of Winter Park Lodging Company, Sarah Bradford’s, favorite runs on the mountain! In her opinion, Arrowhead is “the most perfect run on the mtn… especially if groomed!”

1:45pm: At the bottom of Arrowhead, go left instead of right and take the corridor back to Winter Park base.

2:00pm: Take the Gondola back up to Sunspot lodge. Refuel and grab a coffee & a cookie – Yummm

3:00pm: After a little leg rest, ski down Cranmer and play there for a bit on Explorer lift or Prospector lift.

3:30pm: After you’ve gotten some energy out, start thinking about heading back to the base…

3:45pm: Take Olympia Express back up to Sunspot Lodge, you can go down Cranmer again and head left 1/2 way down and follow signs to Larry Sale trail

4:00pm: Time for Après! Grab a beer at the Derailer Bar or a cocktail at one of the new bars in the new village. Talk about the day and share photos with friends

Later On: Take a soak in the hot tub (your muscles will thank you tomorrow!), have some dinner, and enjoy your holiday in Winter Park, CO!
