On April 6th, Winter Park will officially live up to it’s brand as Colorado’s Favorite Playground with a 2.5 hour mad cap adventure from the slopes to the streets. Expect ridiculous challenges, unexpected thrills and more than a few fabulous spills as competitors take on 12 mystery challenges and run the gauntlet in the Wipeout Zone.

The race is open to all aged 7 (kids under 13 must be accompanied by an adult) to 70 years old, and spans approximately 2 miles of variable terrain.

‘Who Let The Dogs Out?’

A full weekend of International Sled Dog Association sanctioned races will be taking place at Grand Park, this February 16th & 17th.

Watch the incredible display of communication between each musher and his pack as the area’s top teams battle it out in 4, 6 & 8 dog races.

Also, check out the one and two dog skijouring races, where the mushers fly along with the pack on skis rather than sleds. The 31st annual Winter Park Jazz Festival dates have been announced. This year Winter Park, Colorado’s biggest summer music festival will take place on July 20, 2013 – July 21, 2013! This years festival will again take place under the majestic Colorado Rocky Mountains in Hideaway Park in the heart of Winter Park, CO

SnowBall Music Festival Lineup in Winter Park, CO

A good portion of the musician lineup has been announced for the Snowball Music Festival here in Winter Park, CO. SnowBall will be coming to Grand Park in WP from March 8-10.

This will be the biggest Winter Season music festival ever here in Winter Park and will be one of the biggest music festivals also. SnowBall is a blend of electronic, rock, jazz and dance music. With all the snow we get in Winter Park in March this should be very fun and interesting.

The last twenty bands will be announced Wednesday, January 9.

The Winter Park Signature Events are all set here in Winter Park, Colorado. There are a few new ones to go along with the classics. The signature events are the ones you will only find here in our little piece of paradise in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Here are all the Winter Park Signature Events for 2012 and 2013:

New Years Eve at the Icebox

DEc 31 from 7pm to 9pm at the Icebox Icerink

Celebrants will glide into the New Year in smooth style at this year’s Black Light Skating Party. Fraser Valley Sports Complex will host the event in its recently debuted “IceBox,” a naturally frozen and partially enclosed ice rink. Skaters can twirl and whirl the year away from 7-9 p.m. and can then ring in the New Year with a bang at the 9 p.m. fireworks show.

Winter Park SnowDash

Jan 6 all day at Hideaway Park

This year Winter Park has partnered with Fit5280 to bring the extreme SnowDash race to Colorado’s favorite playground on Jan. 26. At over 10,000 feet, this adventure race is an obstacle course complete with snow, music, beer and plenty of cheer. Warriors welcome!

Winter Park Winter Carnival

Jan 26 and 27 all day at Winter park resort and town of wp

Honoring the birthday of local legend Mary Jane, this winter festival is not just for the historians. The two-day celebration, Jan. 26-27, invites one and all to take part in live music, a snow-sculpture contest, sledding races, snowshoe treks, fireworks, a parade and much more.

Grand Park Dog Days of Winter

Feb 16 and 17 all day at grand park

Grand Park will once again go to the dogs for the annual Dog Days of Winter sled dog races, Feb. 16-17. The International Sled Dog Racing Association-sanctioned races will offer slots for sled teams of four, six and eight dogs, a three-dog junior division and one- and two-dog skijoring, where mushers are pulled by their pooches atop cross-country skis.

SnowBall 2013 Music Festival

March 8 to 10 all day at Grand Park

The sound-packed weekend of songs and snow dance is back with a vengeance, Mar. 8-10, in Grand Park! Third time promises to charm as Winter Park seizes the title of host. A jam-packed lineup with music in a variety of genres makes this winter music fest a hit for all.

Winter Park Wipe Out

April 6 all day at winter park resort and grand park

This brand new adventure challenge race will have participants pin-balling around Winter Park, completing tasks and challenges like puzzle solving, clue finding and obstacle tackling. Each completed task earns a string of beads. Those who collect enough beads are able to “buy” their way back into The Gauntlet at Grand Park where live music and beer await.

Wells Fargo Cup Winter Park, CO

The annual Wells Fargo Cup brings together elite disables skiers, Bronco veterans and some of Denver and Colorado’s bigger celebrities to benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). 2013 marks the 38^th consecutive year for Wells Fargo’s support of this event. The Wells Fargo Ski Cup boasts the longest running professional ski race in the country and serves as a signature fundraiser for the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Three races comprise the March 1-3 weekend at Winter Park Resort: the Corporate Cup, a Pro Am style race where teams of five friends, family or coworkers are paired with an NSCD Competition Center athlete and compete for prizes and ego; the Kids Snowplow Sprint, which features up-and-coming NSCD athletes and able-bodied young skiers; and the World Disabled Invitational, where disabled skiers compete head-to-head on parallel courses. Other weekend events include a two-day silent auction, skier hospitality and the Ski for NSCD Pledge Drive celebration. This years weekend festivities take place from March 1 to March 3, 2013.

Ski season at Winter Park/Mary Jane is steadily approaching. Winter Park opens on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. This will be the 72nd ski season that Winter Park is open for business. That is the longest continually running of any resort in Colorado.

After last years less than stellar year the snow gods are looking to be kind to all the ski resort in Northwest Colorado especially WInter Park. Most long term weather forecasts are showing Winter Park and Mary Jane having an above average year for snowfall.

Winter Park US Alpine Championships with Lindsey Vonn

Winter Park Resort will be in the national racing spotlight when the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships follow the Nastar National Championship to create The Championships presented by Nature Valley, March 22 – April 1, 2012.

Lindsey Vonn is expected to race in the Alpine National Championships. The Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships serve as the culmination of a five-month season that crossed continents and countries so America’s best alpine skiers could go head-to-head with the world. Top athletes from over 400 U.S. Ski Team club programs throughout the U.S. and the U.S. Ski Team will converge on Winter Park for the five-day event. Among those expected to compete are four-time World Cup overall champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO), three-time World Cup giant slalom champion Ted Ligety (Park City, UT) and three-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) – all of whom are Olympic gold medalists. This is the best place and time to see the United States gold medal ski racers.

NASTAR Winter Park Resort 2012

NASTAR Ski Championships Winter Park, CO

The Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships and Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships combined to create The Championships presented by Nature Valley at Winter Park Resort, March 23-April 1. The NASTAR Championships are now a full week here at Winter Park/Mary Jane.

The NASTAR race course is a dual race course where skiers and riders can race side-by-side against friends and family or against the clock. The course is set on Lower Cranmer, just above Snoasis, making the race course accessible to all skiers and riders at an intermediate level or better. Groups of any size and nearly any skill level can enjoy a fun and spirited competition catered to their needs. Ski clubs and councils, business retreats, family reunions, school ski trips, and other groups should give our NASTAR race course a try. Using a pacesetting system, participants can compare their results to other racers of all ages and abilities from across the country as well as with members of the U.S. Ski Team.

NASTAR racers must qualify for the Nature Valley NASTAR National Championships within their age category, division and discipline at any NASTAR resort. There are more than 120 resorts that offer NASTAR racing and a top five rankings as of Feb. 21st at any resort qualifies racers for the Nationals. The overall Champions, fastest male and female, will earn forerunner positions for the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships GS and a trip to a U.S. Ski Team training camp.
