Winterpark, Colorado, USA: The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD)The National Sports Center for the Disabled has been leading the way in adaptive sports and recreation since it’s inception in 1970.

Recognized as one of the premiere adaptive ski centers in the World, the NSCD lives by it’s mission statement to ‘enable the human spirit through therapeutic sports and recreation’.

While the organization originated as a ski program, providing lessons for children with amputations for the Children’s Hospital of Denver, it has blossomed over the years to provide an incredible variety of winter and summer recreational programs.

All ages and abilities are welcomed to the center to participate in the year round program of activities which includes:

The specially trained staff & volunteers are true experts in these fields and can teach these activities to individuals with almost any physical, cognitive, emotional or behavioral diagnosis.

In addition to individual lessons and group expeditions, the organization encourages family lessons which allow the entire family to recreate together and learn the proper techniques in assisting any family members with special needs.
