I have been spending a lot of time up at the resort, getting ready for the onslaught of Winter Park Lodging Company guests this week, so I have not been able to do much blogging but have had a chance to eat at most of the restaurants up in the Winter Park Village.
My first stop was lunch at Cheeky Monk. This is season two for Cheeky Monk and from what I can see they seem to be doing very well. One of our employees works there so I was welcomed with warm arms as I sat at the bar. The bartender got me my water, hey I have to work sometime, and menu quickly. I was really wanting a beer but hard work and self denial won out on this day.
I ordered the soft pretzels for an appetizer and the Monte Cristo for lunch. The pretzels were great and the Monte Cristo was OK. The price of both I thought was a bit high but we are at the base of a ski resort so that can be expected. Service overall was good and conversation with fellow patrons was flowing. The place was doing better business than I expected for the first Monday of ski season with only a few ski runs open.
Overall it was a good lunch and I will return and quaff a few of their fine Belgium brews.
