James and Parry’s: In Winter Park Resort Village, this trendy retail shop offers clothes for warmth, ensembles for fashion, unique gift selections, and memorable additions to home décor. Right across from our friendly polar bear, you’ll see this brick corner shop beckoning you in. Serious shoppers or casual walk-throughs will enjoy the stylish merchandise. This is a great shop for finding Winter Park logo wear to take home a memento of great times in the mountains. Open daily 8a.m. to 8p.m.
Super Gauge Digital Screen Pilot Program: A revolutionary pilot program is happening right here at Mary Jane. We’re raising the bar, as you lower the restraining bars! Five chairs on Mary Jane’s Super Gauge will delight their riders with these newly installed digital screens that are a first in the ski industry. These handy screens will provide resort area pertinent information: such as real-time terrain openings, upcoming resort events, weather updates, and even CDOT info on I-70 traffic conditions. For this nation-wide digital debut, five lucky chairs are equipped with this slick technology from the Centennial start-up, Alpine Media Technology. Give chair 86 a go! On that seven-minute ride to the top, users can access the bright and visible screens to
Sober Englishman: Crossing the top of the renowned “Drunken Frenchman,” this improved and renamed trail allows easier access from the top of Winter Park over to the Mary Jane trail. Past visitors may remember this as the exciting, but daunting “Do or Die” trail. This now Intermediate trail is a half-mile long, 20-feet wide run, that is snowcat maintained. Follow it from The Lodge at Sunspot, through the trees, to the top of the Mary Jane. Your post-ski boasts will include talk of disembarking the Zephyr, meeting up with a Sober Englishman, crossing paths with a Drunken Frenchman, gamboling briefly with a Gandy Dancer, and meeting up with the Grande dame, Mary Jane!
Waffle Cabin: This fueling station has been practicing the art of “Waffleology” at their spot in the Village central for quite some time. Now, these yummy liege style, warm waffles are being served up fresh on the slopes. If your hungry friends or famished kids have not already pointed the new locale out to you, the newest Winter Park Waffle Cabin can be found by the Looking Glass and Olympia lifts. Follow the scrumptious smells! Pick up an Original or add to perfection by asking for Belgian chocolate drizzle. Hot and cold beverages are also available. What a wonderful way to warm up and treat the family, and yourself, while up on the mountain. You can still find the original Winter Park Waffle Cabin in the Village at 15 Parry Peak Way. Another site is open at the base, on weekends, near Gemini Express. With three locations serving it up, it would be truly awful to leave without a waffle!
At Winter Park and Mary Jane, the legendary trails await, and the Village continues to make available the foods and drinks that delight their guests. Add to your list of favorite stops, or be one of the first to claim a brand new favored gem!

Four inches of new snow in recent days has given a nice boost to Winter Park’s early season snow pack; and with colder temperatures on the way, the snow-making team at Winter Park Resort have guns-a-blazin’ to give Mother Nature a helping hand.
The Zephyr Express lift is now open, providing access to the Olympia Lift and ‘Alice’ ski runs, as in “Alice in Wonderland.” Explore Alice’s fast and fun groomers like Jabberwocky, Dormouse, March Hare and White Rabbit, and you will have wonder and “Weeee!” as you ski.
Speaking of White Rabbit, both the upper section (Blue or Intermediate) and the lower section (Green or Easiest) are open. White Rabbit is a wide open cruiser, that runs under the Olympia Lift. Work on your style points, shake out some of those early-season cobwebs, and get those legs ready for bigger and steeper lines later in the season.

Locate the essentials. Make certain those skis you sadly put away last April are waxed and willing. Our verbal checklist upon departing the house, “Skis, boots, poles, pass.” With temperatures in the mid-forties and blue skies smiling down, this is the perfect time to check out your equipment and loosen up the muscles for the new ski season. There were eight lifts already running when we arrived. We saw people at the base renting equipment to try out for the upcoming snowfall. Conveniently, right at the base of Winter Park, there was a tent set up for us to try out our RFID ski passes to make certain that everything was current and functioning. Super simple, before we scurried onto the Arrow lift. Early skiing. There are no crowds, plenty of enthusiastic employees, and the calming beauty of a day in the Rocky Mountains. Our smiles were wide as we took in the views.

It was a short foray. Enough to pick up a breakfast burrito from Moffat Market, assemble my accoutrements, and to whet my appetite for the upcoming season of friends and family swooshing down these expansive Winter Park/Mary Jane trails, creating new memories.

We’ve just caught wind of an exciting new grocery delivery service, that will begin operating in Winter Park within the next week.
The Grocery Guys aim to take the stress out of your vacation, by shopping for, and delivering your personalized shopping list of groceries direct to your vacation rental or second home.
We have to agree that arriving at your vacation home, to find a refrigerator stocked full of your favorite things would be a splendid way to start your vacation.
Interested parties simply visit The Grocery Guys website (www.grocery-guys.com), and complete a quick and easy delivery form with your personalized grocery list. For those that don’t want to think about a long list of items, there are also two starter packages available that will cover breakfast essentials and on-slope snacks.
To ensure that there is ample time to shop for your goodies, the Grocery Guys ask that all orders be submitted at least 48 hours before your preferred delivery date. If a requested item is not available in a local store, a personal shopper will contact you to discuss alternative products.
For further information and pricing, visit www.grocery-guys.com
Julie & Dustin Wagley are the local masterminds behind the Grocery Guys delivery service.
With three children of their own, they know just how exhausting it can be to pack up a family, make a flight, and simply get to their destination.
‘Who wants to fight the crowds and wait in line at the grocery store on the first day of vacation? We hope our service to you minimizes the stress and worry of shopping so you can spend more time focusing on your friends and family!’
They also recognize that for visitors traveling to the area by airport transfer, the idea of having groceries delivered to your condo might be a little more appealing than juggling a week’s worth of groceries on the free local bus service.
The Grocery Guys hope to begin taking orders in plenty of time for the busy Holiday season. Their fun and informative website should be going live within the next few days, so keep ahead of the rush and check www.grocery-guys.com for the latest information.

Who says you need snow to hurtle down a mountain on an inflatable donut?
The fun loving adventure hounds at the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch have raised the bar with the opening of their year-round Snowflex tubing hill.
What-now? Snowflex is a revolutionary man-made surface that mimics the absorption and sliding quality of groomed ski trails. Hailing from Britain (where snow is a rare commodity and mainly limited to the Scottish highlands), the Snowflex system was designed to allow ski and snowboard enthusiasts a year round surface on which they could hone their skills. For those familiar with the traditional plastic-carpet-style ‘dry’ ski slopes, this is a whole other beast…and a much more user friendly one at that! This Snowflex slope is the first of its kind in Colorado, and just the 3rd to be built in the entire US.
The Snowflex Tubing Hill at Snow Mountain Ranch is designed with rollers and short steeps that make for a really fun ride. Using the same type of inflatable tube that you would for winter tubing, you can go round and round as many times as you like, without even loosing your breath thanks to the magic carpet escalator. There’s also a handy concession hut at the top of the tubing hill, which makes for a great shady spot for parents or little ones to hang out in, while the older laugh themselves tired on the slopes.
The tubing hill will be open year round, and is only for tubing purposes – no skiing or snowboard at this time. Off-site guests must purchase a day visitor pass to the facilities at Snow Mountain Ranch which will give them access to the tubing hill, and many of the other activities on offer at the Y, including swimming pool, mini golf, tennis courts, hiking and biking trails.
YMCA Daily Activity Pass
13 and older: $35 per person
6-12 years old: $25 per person
3-5 years old: $15 per person
For further information on the tubing hill and other activities on offer at Snow Mountain Ranch, call 970-887-2152 ext 4135.

Summer has sprouted a few new businesses around Winter Park, and seen a growth spurt in others. Here’s this month’s round up of Winter Park business news.
Volario’s at Vasquez Creek Inn
The good folks at Devil’s Thumb are ready to showcase their great taste in food and dining at the soft opening of Volario’s this August 15th.
With a full remodel of both restaurant and menu, we will officially bid a fond farewell to one of Winter Park’s old time favorites (Gasthaus Eichler), and a big ‘Hello’ to what will surely become the hot new ticket in town.
Serving a full menu of Meditteranean delights from 4pm daily, Volario’s will be offering apres ski antipasta, stone baked pizzettas, traditional Meditteranean entrees, and a special menu bambini for the little ‘uns.
Price point wise, it’s also a big thumbs up. Antipasta plates will go from $4-14, Pizzettas from $13-16, and Entres from $25-29; and anyone who has sampled the Ranch House Restaurant at Devils Thumb, knows that you can expect a very high standard of food & service for those prices.

All Decked Out At Da Vinci
Diners are now soaking up the sun, along with the stellar views on the new sun deck at Da Vinci in Cooper Creek Square.
Extending its cool vibe outdoors has been a major project for Da Vinci, and a nice little face lift for the external north face of downtown’s favorite mall.
We highly recommend checking it out over a spot of lunch this summer, and putting it on your list of apres-ski haunts, as we suspect it’s going to be an awesome spot to watch the alpenglow light up the continental divide this winter.

Hideaway Park Brewery
Winter Park welcomes its first nano-brewery in the form of Hideaway Park Brewery.
Located next door to Fraser Valley Hot Dog, Hideaway Park Brewery is a fabulously unpretentious tap bar offering hand crafted beers (that are brewing all around you), and a good bit of banter while you’re supping on your brew of choice.
The on-tap menu includes an IPA, summer ale, stout and red ales; and while the brewery will not be serving food, they will allow you to bring in a box of your favorite take out to munch on while you’re having a drink.
Hideaway Park Brewery is open Wednesdays – Sundays, on an afternoon/early evening schedule, so be sure to check out the opening times below to make sure you stop by at the right time.
Summer opening hours:Wednesday/Thursday from 3 PM – 7 PM, Friday/Saturday from 12 PM – 8 PM, and Sunday from 12 Noon – 6 PM.
