Hitting ‘The Spot’ in Winter Park

Hitting ‘The Spot’

snack shops in winter parkFor all those night owls looking for some tasty sustenance in the wee small hours in Winter Park, The Spot is the place to go for a belly-full of fresh cooked yumminess.

This small, unassuming food stop serves up gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and a homemade tomato bisque soup Tuesdays through Sundays, from 10 pm – 2.30 pm.

Not your ordinary greasy-spoon, The Spot uses quality ingredients like fresh basil, smoked gouda, caramelized onions and sliced apple to elevate the traditional grilled cheese sandwich to a whole other level.

Multi-tasking owner and operator, Cody Martin, saw a gap in the market for a late night snack shack when the local 24 hour convenience store closed down last year.    Without the 7-Eleven, Winter Park became a bit of a food desert after the local restaurants took their last food order, generally around 9 pm.

While Winter Park isn’t best known for a wild party scene, when bars and clubs like Ullrs and The Basement close the doors around 1 am, there’s one topic on the minds of ex-patrons ….’Time to hit The Spot’.

Located next to The Local Experience, at the west end of Downtown Winter Park, The Spot is in the perfect place to net this appreciative crowd.

The price is also right.  Winter 2015 prices range from $3 to $7, with meat additions available for a small up-charge.

For those that aren’t anticipating any late night adventures, keep your eyes open for The Spot dishing out the goods in the daylight hours this summer.

With a thriving music scene throughout the warmer months, Martin is excited by the prospect of moving his portable work place to a location closer to Hideaway Park where he is sure to find some famished families in need of a feed.
