The Wallflowers Make A Splash In Winter Park

Winter Park Resort has announced the headline act in this year’s Springtopia celebration to be national rock act The Wallflowers.  The FREE end of season concert will begin at 1pm on Saturday, April 25th at the Village at Winter Park Resort.

Local acts Rob Drabkin and The Rick Lewis Project will stir up the crowd between 1 pm – 3.30 pm, before The Wallflowers take the stage at 4 pm.

The Wallflowers have had a huge indie/rock following since their second, nationally acclaimed album ‘Bringing Down The Horse’ in 1996 blew up the charts with ‘One Headlight’ and ‘6th Avenue Heartache’ and won them a Grammy award for Best Rock Performance.  Fronted by Jakob Dylan (yep, that Dylan), the group delivers a classic rock sound with strong story telling lyrics and guitar driven melodies.

The Springtopia celebrations will continue on Sunday, April 26th, with the annual Coca-Cola Spring Splash.  This annual event encourages skiers and riders of all ages to wiggle, weave and fall through a series of obstacles on the Larry Sale race course before attempting to skim across a pond of icy water and through the finish line.

Pond Skimming Winter ParkThe Spring Splash race starts at 12 noon (registration 8 am – 10.30 am at The Balcony House) is limited to the first 100 participants.  As an ice-bath might turn some kiddos a little too blue, participants must be 18 years or older to enter.

No matter whether you are a competitor, music lover, or just want to have one last leisurely ski on the mountain, closing weekend has a little something for everyone.
