The incredible snow year we have had is about to change into an incredible whitewater rafting year. Winter Park Resort received almost 400 inches of snow this ski season and we have probably gotten another 40 inches since the resort closed April 24th. All this snow is starting to melt and we are looking at one of the best rafting season in years.

The Upper Colorado snow basin is around 200% of normal snowpack and the water in the rivers is starting to rise. The Fraser River is already over 1000 cfs and the Upper Colorado 7000 cfs. That is a lot of water already.

Winter Park Rafting w/ Adventures in Whitewater!

One of our favorite summertime activities in Colorado is rafting. Whether you want a high paced adventure down Clear Creek, or a more scenic ride on the mighty Upper Colorado, Adventures in Whitewater offers both. He gave us plenty of fun and colorful history facts of Colorado

River history during our 2 1/2 hour trip down river. Eight of us shared a big boat and had an oar that we maneuvered through a few level1 and 2 rapids during the ride. About half way down, we reached a large rock that you could jump off of into the river. Although the water is pretty chilly, you’ll warm up quickly in the dry air. Red Tail Rafting

When you book a trip with Red Tail Rafting, you will ride the whitewater of the legendary Upper Colrado River through Class II and III rapids. You might talk your guide into stopping at the relaxing natural hot spring, or for the more daring jumping off the the appropriately named “Jump Rock”. Mad adventures rafting trips are for all ages, from 4-104. OK, maybe not quite all ages, but everyone is guaranteed to have a fantastic time.
