Winter Park’s new movie theater and bowling alley had been named and is set to open this summer.  Coming to our little mountain town paradise will be the Foundry.  A two screen, with stadium seating, movie theter and eight lane bowling alley.  There will be a bar and also food will be served.

Opening is set for July 1st with some pre-parties to get all the kinks worked out.  Word on the street is that pizza will be served in addition to a full bar/wine/beer.

The Foundry will be a great addition of things to do for locals and guests in Winter Park, CO.  We can now take the kids to a movie in a great theater and have a bite to eat.

So mark your calendars and get ready for a new bowling alley and movie theater in the Colorado Rockies.

October 9-10: 24th Annual Ski Swap. Come on down to West Portal Station to get huge discounts on new and used ski gear and outerwear for the whole family.  The swap is a primary fundraiser for the Winter Park Competition Center and scholarship funds, so help the cause! Winter Park Alpine Art Affair Weekend–July 25 & 26

 
 

art-affairThe 36th annual Alpine Art Affair will take place under the pines in downtown Winter Park July 25 and 26.  Start your morning with pancakes served by the Lion’s Club of Winter Park. The artists  booths will be set up downtown in the park across from Park Place shopping center. There will be artists there from all over the United States displaying their crafts of every medium.  You can find jewelry, paintings, glass works, photography, sculptures, pottery, and more.  There are also kids booths and local live music to entertain. Smokin’ Moe’s will be there to provide yummy bar-b-q for lunch.  Not into bar-b-q, then head to another Winter Park restuarant. They are all within walking distance of the art show.  The artists will display their crafts from 9-6 on Saturday, and 9-4 on Sunday.  Admission is free, so come early to get the best deals.  And remember to wear closed  toe shoes, those wood chips can really wear your toes down after a few hours.

Local Grand County artists will be showing off their talents in The Village at Winter Park on Saturday July 11,2009. Purchase one-of-a-kind photography, stained glass, jewelry and more. Some of these artisans will be offering “hands-on” classes during the day.  Have a beer at the Cheeky Monk or a margarita at Lime and enjoy a great day up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. 

This is the same day as the Winter Park Mountain Bike Series Race #3 and the Winter Park Music Festival.  Lots of activities for all up here in Winter Park!

Winter Park Alpine Slide and Trestle Bike Park Open This Saturday

 
 

winter-park-alpine-slide-summerWinter Park summer season is here!  This Saturday, June 13th, Winter Parl Resort base activities are open.  The Alpine Slide, longest in Colorado, is back and the Trestle Bike Park is more mature and bigger.  Crankwerx will be back later in the year and all the other favorites are here this Saturday.  Mini golf, climbing wall anti-gravity machine and the jumpalines are all still here.  Lots of fun for all especially the kids.  The Winter Park Village is open for its first summer and the new restaurants have very good food and are offering deals.

Winter Park Resort Opens for Summer

 
 

winter-park-alpine-slideWinter Park Resort will open for 2009 summer season on June 13, 2009.  All of the favorite activities are back: alpine slide, human maze, the bungee trampoline, the Gyro, miniature golf , outdoor climbing wall and the Zephyr lift. 

Hours of operation are from 10AM to 5:30 PM with the Zephyr lift closing at 5PM.  The Trestle Bike Park opening will be announced later and is dependant on the the weather.  The Resort will close down again on Labor Day September 7, 2009 for weekdays but will remain open on weekends through September 26, 2009.

The opening coincides with Race #1 of the Winter Park Mountain Bike Series.  The Village restaurants and shops will be open also. 

If you haven’t been to Winter Park in the summer you are missing out.  The saying goes “You come to Winter Park for the winter but end up staying for the summer”.

7th Annual Winter Park Blues Festival

The 7th Annual Blues From The Top returns to Winter Park June 26 – 28, 2009 10:30am to 7pm.  The Show will be held at Hideaway Park in the town of Winter Park just off of Highway 40.  The lineup will include Tab Benoit, Tommy Castro, Jimmy Hall, Zac Harmon, Deanna Bogart, Mike Zito, Trampled Under Foot, Dolores Scott Gospel Group, John Nemeth, Soulmate, Sean Kellerman, and Michaela Rae.  The show is put on by the Grand County Blues Society.  Festival info and ticket prices can be found on their website   http://www.grandblues.org/Shows/Festival/tabid/66/Default.aspx
