Rise and Shine Bakery Cafe in Winter Park

perfect latteI did two things this summer: drink too much coffee at Rise & Shine Bakery Cafe, and mountain bike, in that order.  Now that the snow has started falling I may be giving up mountain biking for a few months, but nothing will be able to keep me from my favorite coffee.  And don’t think I’m the only one; Rise & Shine is a local’s favorite, serving up freshly roasted organic coffee, lattes, mimosas, bloody marys, and homemade bread, pastries, doughnuts, and bagels baked fresh daily. With a great lunch menu as well, Rise & Shine is a perfect stop before or after hitting the slopes all day.

On your next visit to Winter Park, make sure to stop at Rise & Shine  to experience the fun, cozy, coffeehouse atmosphere and homemade breakfast at my favorite cafe.  Peter Baldo, owner of Rise & Shine and coffee perfectionist, has been kind enough to offer guests of Winter Park Lodging Company any specialty drink for a dollar off!

  1. During ordering our server suggested we go to the neighboring gas station for water so she would not need to charge us 50 cents per cup. Before everyone in our party finished eating, the owner demanded we consolidate our group to fewer tables citing the need to make money as his rationale. A member of our party jested, “I thought you already made money on us,” since we had paid our bill, including a 20% large group gratuity. Unaware of this additional charge, many had tipped additionally. In an infuriated tone, the owner loudly announced to all present, “I guess this guy will be paying for all your meals. I suppose he’s gonna pay the rent.” Though all in our party had paid for their portion of the tab to her individually, the server returned, claiming there were insufficient funds to cover the entirety of the bill, though she was unable to identify any unpaid items. The excess charges were paid to avoid further conflict. My hope in writing this review is to save other potential customers from having a similar experience.

  2. The note left by “sara” is an disgruntal customer that has been leaving this same story all over the internet. To clarify the situation, this group came in hungover fussy and had no respect for any one else in the resturant.

First off- we do not charge for water unless it is to go.
Secondly, we only have a limited number of table’s so, they were asked to consoladate as this group of nine were spread out over 5 tables.

And finally, they ordered more food than they could afford. Not our fault. We have our policy’s listed on the menu for large group gratuties. We offer great homemade food, scratch baked goods and worldclass service… Unfortunatly we do not cater to disrespectfull behavior. I am sorry -Thank you.
