Winter Park Colorado in September | Changing of the Colors

Winter Park Colorado September

Winter Park in September

It is getting to be Fall up here in Winter Park, Colorado.  September is my favorite month with the changing of the colors and the cool, crisp mornings and evenings.  It doesn’t get any better for scenery and it is the best time of year for mountain biking.

A perfect day is waking up to a nice hot cup of coffee to be enjoyed on the deck followed by fresh pancakes and eggs.  Off to mountain biking up behind Rendezvous for a few hours and then a good soak in a pool or hot tub.  Evening comes around and it’s a great dinner at Tabernash Tavern or the Cheeky Monk followed with a bottle of good wine sitting around the fire on the patio.

It is the time for all the aspens to change colors also.  The last couple of weekends are when we get the most colors from the aspen.  Nothing more fun than a drive up to Grand Lake a trip through Rocky Mountain National Park to see the changing of the colors.

Winter Park Wildlife | Rendezvous Buck

A Pretty Buck in Rendezvous Today

A Pretty Buck in Rendezvous Today

Had to share a shot I took today when we were visiting the Rendezvous playground with our boys.

As often happens when we visit the Rendezvous neighborhood, situated above the town of Winter Park, we caught wildlife just walking by.  We’ve seen moose there several times as well.

This pretty buck noticed me taking his photo, but didn’t seem to mind much.  You can stay in Rendezvous and see for yourself.  We offer a corner town home with excellent views of the mountains…and often, the animals too.

Trailhead Lodges Pool has opened in Winter Park

The only outdoor heated pool in Winter Park is ready for laps!

The only outdoor heated pool in Winter Park is ready for laps!

The long-awaited unveiling of the clubhouse and outdoor recreation area at the Trailhead Lodges has finally arrived.   The outdoor pool is heated and will be in use all year long. The hot tubs of course are always hot and will feel great after a long day on the ski hill or bike trails. The clubhouse offers a full kitchen and large table for entertaining. It also is the home to the work out room with state of the art equipment.  Not to be forgotten, is the fantastic fire pit with lots of seating. Being one of only a handful of pools in downtown Winter Park, and the only heated outdoor pool, this is a great spot to stay for your winter or summer vacation.

Winter Park Playgrounds | Rendezvous with a Bear

Almost looks real!

Almost looks real!

Want to entertain the kiddos in Winter Park even when you can’t find any REAL wildlife? Check out the park at Rendezvous – the fancy neighborhood behind the town of Winter Park.  They’ve got a great playground (especially for 2 year olds), picnic area and this life size bear to climb on.

We were there today and walked over the bridge to the lake where we found two painters set up recreating the scenery on their canvas.  Really neat!

To get there, go thru the town of Winter Park on the way to Fraser. Turn right at the Rendezvous entrance. Go over the little bridge and you’ll see the park on the right.

Winter Park Lodging | WP soon to have more swimming pools

Swimming in the snowWinter Park just got another swimming pool.  The outdoor pool at Trailhead Lodges opened up last week and from what I saw it looks great.  The pool will be heated year round and there is also a hot tub and a new club house.

The Fraser Valley Recreation Center is also set to open sometime this winter with a pool, lazy river and hot tubs.

We are getting downright summery up here in Winter Park.

There are already swimming pools at Meadow Ridge, Hi Country Haus, Snow Mountain Ranch, The Winter Park Hotel and I’m sure I’m missing a whole bunch.  And don’t forget the mineral pools over in Hot Sulpher Springs.  Plenty of pools to soak in after a day of mountain biking or a day on the slopes.  There is nothing better than some laps in the pool or a hot tub after a days adventure.
