Farmer’s Market Coming to Fraser this Summer

fraserfarmers

There’s not much of a growing season up here in Winter Park and Fraser, so it’s is awesome to hear that even if you can’t grow your own fresh produce, you can still get your hands on some.

Starting on Sunday, June 28th, you can get fresh, locally-grown produce, fresh baked goods and even ice cream at the Fraser Farmer’s Market. And again on each Sunday after that from 9:30 am to 1:00pm until August 2nd.  I’m stoked!  They’ll set up at the vacant parking lot next to Timberline Thai and Ryan Real Estate on the main street in Fraser.

Skate Park Happenin’ in Winter Park

The new skate park in Hideaway Park downtown has been a huge hit with the local kids of Winter Park. I think this is the 2nd summer since it opened and (since I’m not much of a skater myself) I’ve been a little surprised to see how popular it is. I walk past it often on my way to and from work and it’s usually packed with people on bikes and skateboards.

The first Skate Park Event is coming up this June 20 from 11am-3pm. There will be demonstrations and lessons by a group called the Yellow Designs Stunt Team, plus music and food.  If you sign up for a skateboarding lesson you’ll receive a free t-shirt, too.  Call the Fraser Metropolitan Recreation District at 970.726.8968 to sign up. There will be an opportunity to skate or bike along with the Yellow Designs Stunt team or, if you’re like me,  you can just watch and eat the food…

Ski Colorado! License Plates

Sample Ski Colorado License Plate

Colorado will soon have the ultimate (at least in the opinion of Winter Park Lodging by Owner) accessory to add to your vehicle – a skiing & snowboarding themed license plate. On Wednesday, in a small ceremony at the base of Arapahoe Basin, Gov. Bill Ritter signed Senate Bill 161, which creates the nation’s first license plate depicting both skiing and snowboarding. “For decades now, people have wondered why Colorado doesn’t offer a ski license plate,” Gov. Ritter said. “After all, Colorado is the ski and snowboard capital of the world. Colorado’s skiers and snowboarders are a unique part of our culture, and I am delighted to sign this bill into law.” We couldn’t agree more! We’re still waiting to hear the full details of when the new plate will be available, but the exciting news is that we have one coming! Thank you to all you Coloradoans who signed the petition and helped make this happen.  Sign us up!  We will have to switch all Winter Park Lodging by Owner cars to the new plate.
