Just a reminder to Y’all that the 18th annual Fat Tire Classic is coming upon us soon. If you are thinking of biking this event you should register now at http://www.nscd.org/fattireclassic/. Lodging is filling up so you should also book your lodging now. Dates for the Fat Tire Mountain Bike Classic are 7/17/2009 to 7/19/2009. This is a great way to enjoy the Colorado Rocky Mountians on a bike with some very fun mountain biking. The people at Red Cross and The National Sports Center For The Disabled (NSCD) do the weekend right. There is food, beer and live music and it is a great time.

Winter Park’s Women, Wheels and Wine – Women’s Mountain Biking Day

Hey Ladies, Devils Thumb Ranch is putting on a Mountain Bike clinic/festival/celebration on July 12, 2009. Women, Wheels and Wine (or Whine?) sounds like a great day with instruction from Women’s Quest, Devil’s Thumb staff and the Chipotle-Titus Women’s Mountain Bike team.

The Devil’s Thumb Ranch and Spa is located just outside of Winter Park in Tabernash (or Tabertrash as we call it, as that is where we live).

Cost is $95 for the day and that includes lunch at Devils Thumb Ranch.

Come on ladies this sound like a great way to get your inner mountain bike fanatic going!

Winter Park Mountain Bike Series Race #2

Race #2 of the Winter Park Mountain Bike series will be held Sunday June 27,2009. This is the cross country super loop race. The course is not determined yet and depends on US Forest Service tree cutting plans so the course could change up until the day of the race. Registeration begins at 8PM day of the race and the Pro Men will start at 10PM.

Winter Park Colorado Fourth of July

The Fraser Valley fireworks will be held again this year at the Fraser Valley Sports Complex. Fun for the entire family there will be face painters, carnival games, live music and the free fireworks. The Informants, a jump blues band, will play from 6PM to 9PM and will be followed by the free fireworks. The celebration will start of at 4PM and end around 10PM.

Arrive early to get a good spot on the grass. Bring all your picnic supplies, blankets and refreshments. There will also be food and drink vendors on the grounds. This is a great event for the kids.

The last few years it has gotten pretty crowded so again get there early for a good spot. The Fraser/Winter Park Police keep a very close eye on the roads so if you think you are going to be doing any drinking of adult beverages call the Valley Taxi guys.

Valley Taxi is now offering FREE taxi rides on Thursday evenings for the spring. From 7pm to 2am, you can get a ride anywhere in Winter Park and Fraser for free – just tip your driver so they can continue to offer this free service throughout the summer.

Pole Creek Golf Course New Clubhouse Grand Opening

The new clubhouse at Pole Creek Golf Club will be finished and open May 23rd. Come on out and see the beautiful new building. We here at Winter Park Lodging by Owner (WPLBO) think they have done a fantastic job and can’t wait to have a drink at the new bar.
